Having problems with mod servers ?

Mod Server General Information.

There are several mods that have been released for W@W. Ace , Awe , Xtreme , OpenWarfare ... Just to name a few. Everytime a game patch is released they (the modders) also have to update their MOD and release a new version.

Also there are currently over 150 Mod MAPS that have been released. Not all maps work with all mods.

Every one of the MODS and/or MAPS when released have bugs or problems in them. Most of the modders and mappers will release an updated version of their map/mod after the public has had time to report back all the problems. But , same as it is with the game itself , they don't always get it all right on the second release and then there will be a 3rd update , ect , ect , ect ............

So as you can see there are many versions of each mod and map floating around in the community. The more mod servers you play in , the more congested your files become.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing with the mod servers is that the "Player" and "Server" files match EXACTLY, if you have played in another MOD server running a different version of the MOD or MAP they "Will Not Match" and the mod will not perform correctly. You will most likely be kicked from the server , have a very slow download (like 13kb/sec) , or some other type of error will occur.

The game does not automatically update or overwrite the mod and/or custom map files you have already downloaded. This has to be done manually.

First you need to access "Your Profile" , to do this you need to be sure that all files and folders are visible on your computer by doing the following :

Click Start / Control panel / folder options a small box will open - click on the "View" Tab , scroll down the list and then select "View all files and folders" then save and exit.

Second : The location of "Your Profile" is as follows : Click on Start/computer/C Drive/users/"your computers name"/appdata/local/Activision/codw@W/

Here you will find 3 folders and 1 file : Mods , Usermaps , Players and servercache.dat.

The Servercache.dat file is part of the game files and is not to be adjusted.

The Folders we are interested in are the Mods and Usermaps and Players.
.................................................................................................................

1. The "Mods" file contains the folders of all the mods that you have played. (from all the mod servers you have visited)

Any players that are having issues downloading the mod from our server should delete all the mods in this folder.

To delete the Mods in your folder :

Click on Start/computer/C Drive/users/"your computers name"/appdata/local/Activision/codw@W/mods

Here you will find a list of mods that your game has downloaded. For best results you should delete all the MOD folders in this file. (Remember that all files for server and client must match exactly)

..................................................................................................................

2. The "Usermaps" Folder contains all maps that your game has downloaded.(from all the mod servers you have visited)

To delete the Maps in your usermaps folder:

Click on Start/computer/C Drive/users/"your computers name"/appdata/local/Activision/codw@W/usermaps

Here you will find a list of maps that your game has downloaded. For best results you should delete all the MAP folders in this file. (Remember that all files for server and client must match exactly)

KNOWN PROBLEM: The "Exceded 2048 Material Assets Error" is caused by HAVING TOO MANY MAPS in your usermaps folder.
Cure: To fix this delete some or all of the maps as desribed above and this will eliminate the problem.

..................................................................................................................

3. The "players" folder contains 2 folders Profiles and Save.

Open the profiles folder , then your game name folder. Here you will see a second Mods folder. Open it and Delete all mod folders in this directory.

The save folder does not need to be adjusted.

..................................................................................................................

This process will have to be repeated if any changes are made to the server ( ie. Mod or Map updates ) The game will download the new Mod and Maps automatically when you join the server again. This post will be updated if any such changes are made.

NOTICE TO ADVANCED USERS:

If you don't want to delete all the maps and mods. If you know the name of the map/mod you are having trouble downloading you can delete that map/mod only from the list and try again. If this still does not work you may have too many maps/mods in your folders and you should delete them all and start over.
